💪 Facebook Says I’m a Bully

This week's Deep Dive is a bit more concise than usual. Between juggling my business and social life (including a 3-day music festival with my wife and friends), time was at a premium.

But I've got a story to share about how Facebook took a $300 bite out of my earnings.

First, here is a quick update on my Facebook Page in the Performance Bonus Program:

Mid-month, I was on track to hit $3k. I was cautiously optimistic, but experience has taught me to be wary. Every month so far, the first two weeks have been phenomenal, followed by what seems like throttling in the last two. It's a pattern I can't ignore.

True to form, this month followed the same trajectory. I’m now looking at about $1900 for the month.

I’m not complaining, though. Getting paid almost $2000 extra just for scheduling memes is the life!

Now, for the promised story:

A few weeks ago I had a viral meme get over 10m reach and earn a whopping $289 from the Bonus program! Then, three days ago, Facebook pulled the plug, citing community standards violations.

They claim I was a bully!

I've appealed the decision, but I'm not holding my breath on seeing that $289 hit my bank account.

Look…virality is a double-edged sword. It exposes your content to a much wider audience, many of whom may not understand your niche or humor.

My theory? The post likely attracted complaints from users who missed the joke and took offense.

This incident highlights a crucial lesson: clickbait and ragebait content might drive engagement on Facebook, but it's a risky game. Sometimes, you'll get burned.

It's not just a Facebook thing, either. This applies across all social media platforms. Pushing boundaries can yield the ultimate rewards, but it also comes with risks.
