This week, we're switching gears from our usual AI case study updates to dive into a hot topic that's been blowing up my Twitter/X notifications: The Facebook Performance Bonus program.

You've been asking, so I'm lifting the curtain on how I'm turning memes into a lucrative side hustle.

🎰 Facebook Performance Bonus Update

Month #4 of the Facebook Performance Bonus program is in the books, and it's my biggest yet!

My page raked in $1842 last month, including a $400 Extra Bonus for passing $1100 in earnings.

For three consecutive months, I've qualified for Extra Bonus offers, each one driving my earnings higher. This month, however, there's no Extra Bonus available.

This presents a unique challenge – to maintain and even surpass previous growth without the additional incentive.

I guess it's time to refine strategies and double down on what’s working to make sure the earnings chart continues its upward trajectory 🚀

😹 Can You Really Make Money Posting Memes?

Unlike our AI Tattoo Case Study page, my Performance Bonus page is essentially a meme factory.

I get tons of questions about how this works and whether you can just repost memes from other pages to cash in. Let's dive into that...

First, a disclaimer: Facebook's official line is that the Performance Bonus program only pays for "original content." However, my experience suggests there's some wiggle room here.

Here's my approach:

1. I avoid sourcing memes from other popular Facebook pages. That feels like tempting fate.

2. Instead, I mine content from Instagram, Reddit, Pinterest, and Tumblr (a goldmine for my niche).

3. No watermarks allowed. If I spot one, I'll recreate the meme in Canva. It usually takes just a few minutes to source the original photo and drop it into my template.

4. I always credit the source in the caption if it's from an active account or niche influencer.

As the page has grown, I've had some creators pop up in the comments. Most are cool about it, just wanting some additional credit (I can’t really blame them tbh).

However, a few have slid into my DMs, asking (or demanding) a more prominent shoutout. If they are nice, I’ll usually placate them with a separate post encouraging my page followers to follow them as well.

TikTok is another goldmine for viral content. Some of my highest-earning posts have been TikTok videos.

Pro tip: I always strip the TikTok watermark before posting. You can use a free tool like Snaptik for this. Just paste the TikTok link, download the watermark-free version, and schedule it with Post Planner.

So far, I've had zero policy violations and gotten paid for all my meme content. But as always, proceed at your own risk
