☀️ Summertime (And the Livings Easy)

For those of you who don’t know me super well (yet), I’m a self-proclaimed beach bum. I live a couple hundred steps from the ocean, and summer is my time to unwind just a bit from the entrepreneur grind.

I hit the beach when it’s sunny, cook at home way less, and go see live music whenever I can. Plus, this is the time of year when friends and family always vacation where I live. So my calendar is pretty much booked out in July and August.

I've designed this lifestyle, and I love it. But I'll be honest – my business productivity takes a hit. Those late nights often lead to sluggish "day afters," and last week, I barely checked off half my Trello tasks.

The silver lining? As my own boss, I set my deadlines. No one's breathing down my neck, so I can just buckle down and push forward when needed.

💻 Embarking on a New “Journey”

Big news! My blog, Monetized Future, got the green light from Mediavine Journey.

I've been on the fence about ads, worried about messing with a site that’s survived and thrived through every Google update. But you know what? My goal is to break free from relying on "Big G," so I'm taking the plunge.

Here's my safety net: A big chunk of Monetized Future's income comes from recurring affiliate payments built up over the years. Even if Google decides to ghost me, I've got a steady stream of cash that could last for years until accounts naturally churn.

I’ve had a lot of success in the past with Pinterest, so my plan is to use AI to help produce more Pinterest-friendly content around online business sub-niches like “side hustles” and “easy ways to make money”.

With some luck, maybe I’ll get some significant traffic flowing to Monetized Future. Hopefully, this will work out and be the final step in ripping off the Google bandaid once and for all.

Of course, I’ll keep you updated along the way.

🤖 Case Study #1 Update

I definitely didn’t dedicate as much time as I wanted to the case study this week (blame the beach), but I did make some progress.

If you are a new subscriber, check out last week’s issue to get caught up.

First, we needed a name for our Facebook page. I decided to use AI right from the start and asked Claude for some ideas.

After some back-and-forth, I settled on a name I really liked.

Next, I wanted to use AI to create the profile image and cover photo.

Just as I was ready to create these visuals, a new AI image model called FLUX hit the scene. Its superpower? Rendering words accurately - something that's been a real pain point for most AI image generators. Talk about perfect timing!

I couldn't resist giving FLUX a spin, and let me tell you, the results blew my mind. Not only did it nail our logo and cover image, but it actually turned the words into realistic-looking tattoos. On-brand doesn't even begin to cover it.

I’m still planning to use Midjourney 6.1 to create the content for the Facebook Page itself since it's so lifelike. But moving forward I will use FLUX for any logos or images that contain words.

This week, we’re going to seed the page with some content so it looks like a page people want to follow.

We’ll also start running Page Like Ads (I promise) to get some initial followers.
